Coffee Talk @ Sightglass

Hey, coffee enthusiasts! If you're on the lookout for your next caffeine fix in San Francisco, look no further than Sightglass Coffee. Lucky for us they have three locations in the city. My personal favorite is their SoMa location but their locations in the Mission and on Divisadero are as equally charming. This post is a part of my Coffee Talk series which will be covering all the great coffee spots throughout the Bay Area.
Now, let’s dive in!
Hours: Mon-Sun 7am-5pm
Coffee Craftsmanship: At Sightglass Coffee, the art of coffee craftsmanship is taken seriously. They source only the finest, ethically-sourced beans from around the world, establishing direct relationships with farmers to ensure quality and sustainability. The passion for the perfect brew is evident in every step of the coffee-making process, from roasting to brewing.
Roasting Rituals: Roasting is where the magic truly happens. Sightglass takes pride in their custom-built, vintage roasters that not only preserve the time-honored traditions but also employ modern techniques for precision roasting. The master roasters skillfully coax out the distinctive flavors and aromas locked within each bean, resulting in a diverse range of roasts to suit every palate.
The Menu: As you peruse the extensive coffee menu, you'll be delighted by a selection of single-origin pour-overs, signature espresso-based drinks, and even innovative brewing methods like siphon and AeroPress. For those seeking a less & non-caffeinated option, their handcrafted teas and matcha lattes are equally exceptional. Don't forget to complement your coffee experience with their delectable pastries, baked fresh daily.
Recommendations:
Ethiopian Yirgacheffe Pour-Over: Immerse yourself in the delicate floral and fruity notes of this exquisite single-origin coffee.
Guatemalan Antigua Espresso: Enjoy this silky smooth espresso, boasting tasting notes of dark chocolate and sweet caramel.
Sightglass Latte: Indulge in the classic, velvety goodness of a latte, made with Sightglass's signature espresso blend, and topped with beautiful latte art.
Affogato: Treat yourself to a decadent Affogato, featuring a scoop of artisanal ice cream lavishly drowned in a shot of Sightglass's espresso, a harmonious marriage of boldness and creaminess.
Matcha Croissant: A delightful treat for your taste buds, the matcha-infused croissant is a flaky and buttery pastry that pairs perfectly with your coffee choice.
The Baristas: Behind every exceptional cup of coffee is a team of skilled baristas who are not just experts in their craft but also passionate about sharing their knowledge with customers. Friendly and approachable, they are always ready to help you discover new flavors or guide you through the intricacies of coffee brewing.
Community and Culture: Beyond serving outstanding coffee, Sightglass fosters a sense of community and inclusivity. The communal seating arrangements encourage conversations among patrons, and the occasional live events and coffee tastings create a welcoming environment that makes visitors feel like part of the family. Sightglass Coffee extends its dedication to the community by showcasing and supporting local artists. The walls of the cafe serve as an ever-changing gallery space for painters, photographers, and other creatives to display their work. This artistic collaboration not only beautifies the space but also gives local artists a platform to share their talent with a broader audience.
Sightglass Coffee is more than just a coffeehouse; it's an immersive experience that takes you on a sensory adventure through the world of specialty coffee. With their commitment to quality, sustainability, and community, Sightglass embodies the essence of San Francisco's vibrant coffee culture. So, whether you're a coffee aficionado or a casual coffee lover, a visit to Sightglass Coffee promises an unforgettable journey through the art and science of coffee, leaving you with a renewed appreciation for this beloved beverage.

Dynamic duo

The inception of Sightglass Coffee can be traced back to two brothers, Jerad and Justin Morrison, whose love for coffee began at a young age. Driven by an unwavering curiosity and a desire to craft the perfect cup, they founded Sightglass Coffee in 2009. So far they have locations in SF and LA and hope to continue expanding.
